The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Anger About Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
